The tour will link up in the ACT suburb of Coombs before heading west through the Molonglo Valley, crossing the Murrumbidgee River at Uriarra Crossing, and heading into the Brindies. The tour route takes us across ridgelines and through mountainous terrain covered with red stringybark and scribbly gums. Brindabella Range’s unique alpine and sub-alpine environment is home to many native animals, including threatened mammals like the spotted-tailed quoll or the yellow-bellied glider.
After looking for the border markers at Piccadilly Circus, we will explore some great tracks to practise our 4WD skills before a steep decent to the Goodradigbee River. We will make camp by the river and share stories around the campfire. Day 2 will commence exploring a recreational hut built in the 1960s, followed by the steep climb back out of camp. The tour will continue to explore the network of tracks through the Brindies before ascending to the summit of Mt Coree. On a clear day you will be able to see Canberra in the distance to the east, and south across the Australian Alps. After Mt Coree, we will make our way back towards Coombs where the tour will conclude mid-afternoon.
